Rising 7th Grade Parents

Rising 7th Grade Parents

Wondering how our students are going to make it at Robinson Secondary and not get swallowed up by the large school?

Robinson Secondary is holding a Parents Night on February 2, 2012 at 7:00pm. A flyer went out last week but I know that they can get skipped over and this is a hugely important meeting not to miss.

2011-2012 Budget Adopted

The 2011-2012 budget was amended presented and adopted at the January General Membership meeting, you can view the budget on the website. Thank you to all that came out to support and vote on the budget, Ways n Means is meeting soon to discuss all the items we would like to purchase for Terra Centre.

Terra Centre & Silver Diner Team Up

Terra Centre and the PTA is enrolled in Silver Diner’s “Eat Well, Do Well!” program. Not only has Silver Diner changed up most of their menu to make it as healthy as possible, they also are walking the walk by purchasing fresh local produce and using locally baked breads to prepare their meals. So it's only natural that they'd want their beloved school partners to get in the act too. Eat Well Do Well is an innovative fund-raising program geared to leverage the dollars you already spend at Silver Diner to improve nutrition, wellness and fitness programs for our children here at Terra Centre. The dollars are dedicated to health and wellness. To activate the card you received at open house or back to school night, go to http://www.silverdiner.com/eat-well-do-well If you need a card please contact Jennifer Underwood at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it

EARN ONGOING REWARDS FOR YOU

  • Earn $5 for every 5 visits made within the next 3 calendar months with the purchase of $5 off of your next visit to the Silver Diner

WHILE SUPPORTING HEALTHIER KIDS

  • A percentage of the sales from the EAT WELL, DO WELL card will be donated to local schools to improve nutrition and fitness programs

So, both are independently true and not dependent upon one another.   So when you eat at the Silver Diner and provide your enrolled Eat Well Do Well card then a percentage of the sales from the program will be donated to local schools to improve nutrition and fitness programs.(i.e.. local school is the participating school your card is linked with)

There is no contingency of one reward upon another, the only requirement is that your card is linked to a participating school on the EWDW website.

FDOT Built New Sidewalk to School

During the summer, the Fairfax County Department of Transportation built a new sidewalk from the corner of Pond Spice Rd. and Burke Centre Parkway that extends to the Kiss & Ride Lanes. Please use the cross walk at the Pond Spice light and the new side walk when you park in the Giant parking lot. It takes a few moments longer but is safer for everyone involed.

Terra Centre in the Cue for Renovation

The timeline is being ironed out and a lot of factors are at play, but the good news is that by the fall of 2014 Terra Centre will be completely renovated on the inside and possibly on top as well. Even the words "more spaces in the parking lot" were uttered. This project is dependent upon FxCo voters approving a $16.6 million bond referendum to improve and renovate TC and to approve other bonds valued at several hundreds of millions of dollars to renovate other FCPS schools when they go to the polls November 8, 2011. But at TC, things are already happening: utility and boundary lines are being marked; surveyors are on the campus measuring slopes and grades and the energy is high. But first things first: encourage your local friends to vote for the referendum and then things can really get moving.  Mrs. Sims plans to address parents again at a PTA meeting in the fall about the latest and greatest regarding the renovation.
